Obituary

Shawn Michael Cook, known affectionately as "Shadow" and "King Diamond" in his beloved Aurora community, passed away on June 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. Born on October 29, 1989, in Portsmouth, VA, Shawn was a beacon of reliability and intelligence throughout his life. He lived his years with an admirable balance of strength and gentleness, always striving to be the best version of himself for those he loved.

Shawn was a dedicated father to his three children, Anu, Enki, and Inanna. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them, even if it meant making sacrifices. His children were the three things that mattered most to him, and he never shied away from doing everything and anything it took to ensure their happiness. A dependable security guard at DIA for five years, Shawn was recognized for his work ethic early in his career, earning the title of MVP at Pizza Hut and twice being named Employee of the Month at Macy's. His resilience and smart decision-making were not just traits; they were the foundation of his life, setting an example for his children.

Shawn found solace and strength in his faith. He was drawn to Christianity, often attending Colorado Christian Fellowship (CCF) with his children. This commitment to his faith was a testament to his resilient spirit, and it was at CCF where Shawn felt a sense of home and spiritual fulfillment. His Pastor, played a crucial role in nurturing his faith and bringing him closer to God.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9). This verse encapsulates Shawn's approach and walk throughout his life. A man who walked with every step in courage and strength. A man with faith in the Almighty God as his guiding light. With only the happiness and wellness of his children as his daily driving desire at the end of the day.

Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Perez, most commonly known by the name of Nile; his devoted, nurturing and caring mother, Victoria Cook; his very supportive and always loving, step-father William Seifert; his father Michael Cook; his beloved little sister, Keri Cook; his other siblings; his down with the clown, Hatchet Man, and Juggalo family members. And mostly by his adored children, Anu, Enki, and daughter Inanna. His reasons for trying harder everyday and making tomorrow better than yesterday. His loss will be forever deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

We invite all who knew Shawn to share their memories of him or the kids. And please feel free to upload any photos of shadow or the kids to his memorial page. Where they will be forever as this page will never be deleted or erased. In celebrating his life, we remember not just Shawn the man, but the Shadow of strength, resilience, and faith he cast on those around him.
