Sergei
Tsytsarev
Jul 7, 1976 — Oct 23, 2024
Sergei was born on July 7, 1976 in St. Petersburg, Russia, at that time still known as Leningrad, USSR. He shared a birthday with his mother, Irina, and they were always very close. He moved to the United States in 1991, and spent his teen and young adult years in New York, where he became a Yankees fan, a Rangers fan, and a Jets fan, and found many friends who he stayed close to throughout his life. He loved music, especially Pink Floyd, and loved driving and target shooting. Sergei grew into a man who was funny, kind, intelligent, and deeply loyal. His careers ranged from dental assistant, to IT, to woodworkng, bartending, and finally his favorite: stage hand and forklift driver for IATSE. Sergei also worked for many years as a filmmaker, working on projects on both sides of the camera ranging from music videos, to independent films, to documentaries. In addition to New York, he lived in Florida and San Diego, and finally found the city he wanted to call home - Denver, Colorado. Here, he became a beloved member of his community, with many friends, and learned to be an Avalanche fan. At the end of 2019, he met his wife, Athena. They moved in together in 2020, and lived in love and partnership for the rest of his life. Sergei was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2021, and he fought it with humor, grace, and courage for the next three and a half years. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
