Ron
Dickman
Aug 8, 1937 — Aug 25, 2024
With great reverence and love, we celebrate the life of Ronald Duane Dickman, born on August 8, 1937, in Grand Junction, CO. Ron grew up primarily in Meeker, CO and then after graduation, joined the army and was stationed in Fort Nix, NJ. Ron married Betty Yarbrough in 1955 in Billings, MT. Together they had four daughters and lived in Kansas, Montana, and Oklahoma before eventually landing in Wheat Ridge, CO. Ron and Betty divorced in 1981 but remained good friends.
In the summer of 1988, Ron was spotted by his future wife, Kay, from across the bar in Denver's Basin's up nightclub. She waved at him, in which he responded by pointing to himself and mouthing, "Me?" She then pulled him in by the wag of her finger. The two married in 1992 on the beaches of Hawaii, the same year Ron retired. This union came with two additional daughters who he nurtured just as his own. After relocating to Tucson in 2000, the two spent their years of retirement fostering a close knit community of friends. Along with traveling and hosting lavish theme parties with his wife, Ron was an avid gardener. He was known for creating backyard oases amongst the desert. Ron and Kay returned to Denver in 2020, enjoying the final years of his life in the landscape from which he came. Ron's love for Kay was nothing short of indescribable.
Ron, a witty and compassionate soul, passed away on August 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Ron, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather spent much of his professional life as a commercial banker, faithfully serving Colorado National Bank in Denver, CO until his retirement. His career was marked by his remarkable dedication and humor, which endeared him to his colleagues and those who encountered him. Ron's enjoyment of life didn't stop at work. He loved working on outdoor projects and perfecting his garden beds, was a passionate Denver Broncos fan, an active member of the Elks Lodge in his earlier years, and a keen observer of life from his lanai window. Ron also cherished his Monday morning mens coffee group, where, with his friends, would humorously claim to solve the world's problems. His afternoons were often spent napping with his sweet beloved dog Stella, on his lap, a testament to his gentle and loving nature. She adored him and was always so patient with him.
Ron's family was the cornerstone of his life. He had pet names for his beloved girls and grandkids and to them he was affectionately known as "Popper," "Grampy," and "Grandpa Ronie."His spirit will continue to be carried forward by his wife, Kay Dickman; daughters, Vicki (Pete) Halladay, Susan (Kris) Kliewer, Pamela (JD) Pyle, and Rebecca Dickman; step-daughters, Jennifer (John) Nealson and Wendi Prince; grandchildren, Rachel (Chris), Leah (James), Hannah (Brandt), Matthew (Alicia) Kliewer, Randi Keller, Lindsay Deyo, Kellan (Krista) Deyo, Jordan (Haley) Pyle, Atticus Boyd Roberson, Alexis (Josh) Vogt Jacobo, Emily Vogt, Maci Vogt, Max Vogt, Chase Nealson, Porter Nealson, great-grandchildren, Gabriel Phillips, Cameron Kliewer, Cadence Kliewer, Christian Keller, Mila Burdette-Pyle, Aurora Burdette-Pyle, Romeo Jacobo, Lorenzo Jacobo, Millie Rexroat, RaeLynn Rexroat and Sophie Rexroat. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Vally Dickman, and his siblings, Velna Stewart, Dean Dickman, Russell Dickman, Gerald Dickman, and Kendall Dickman.
As we remember Ron, let us not forget the words of Mark Twain: "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." Ron embodied this in his wit, compassion, and love for life, making every moment count, whether at work or in the company of his cherished family and friends.
In an effort to collectively celebrate Ron's life, we encourage you to leave your fondest memories of him and upload photos to the memorial page. His story is not only told through his life but also through the lives he touched. Your contributions will help paint a complete picture of Ronald's remarkable life and legacy, and for that, we thank you.
For all who loved Ron, please join us for a Celebration of Life in a beautiful open garden at 11 in the morning on Thursday, August 29 at Silo Park, 9300 East Orchard Road, Greenwood Village, Colorado, Reception to follow.
There will be an additional celebration of Ron's life at a later time when his four daughters, their loved ones, close family and friends will gather in Meeker, where special memories of him will be shared.
