Rodney
Hunter
Aug 8, 1955 — Jan 11, 2024
Rodney Steven Hunter, lovingly known as Rod, passed away on January 11, 2024. Rodney was born on August 8, 1955, in Aurora, Colorado, and later made Centennial his home, where he lived for 24 years. He was a generous soul, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Rodney was known for his smart wit, creative spirit, and loving nature. His generosity was not only evident in his daily interactions but also in his dedication to his community.
Rodney worked diligently as a bus driver for RTD in Denver, Colorado, before retiring in 2023. His love for travel was not only seen in his occupation but also in his personal life, having lived in places as diverse as Wiesbaden, Germany, and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Yet, no matter where Rodney lived, his heart was always with his family and friends. He was a pillar of strength for his loved ones, a rock they could always lean on. Rodney's hobbies included music, art, and sports, each of which he approached with his unique blend of enthusiasm and creativity. His faith played a significant role in his life, and he served as an usher and helped with communion at his non-denominational Christian church. As Psalms 46:1 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble," and Rodney embodied this verse in his life, always there for those he loved.
Rodney's love and kindness live on in his wife, Eva Hunter; their daughter, Desiree Hunter; his sister, Pamela Hunter; and his brother, Rene Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anne Hunter. The void left by Rodney's passing is immense, but the love he shared and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Rodney was an embodiment of love and friendship, and once you became his friend, you were a friend for life.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Fellowship Community Church with services beginning at 11:00 am. For additional service information please click "Events" at the top of the obituary.
