Michael
Watters
Jun 10, 1997 — Mar 15, 2024
With a heavy heart, we acknowledge the loss of Michael Robert Watters, affectionately known as Mikey, who passed away on March 15, 2024. Born in Phoenix, AZ on June 10, 1997, he lived a life that was as vibrant and lively as the city of his birth. A lover of video games and solving puzzles, Michael's spirit was as captivating as his personality.
Loving, funny, and thoughtful, Michael was a beacon of laughter and love to everyone he encountered. He spent the majority of his life in Arizona, where he cultivated a deep love for family and friends. His move to Colorado in the last year of his life was a testament to his adventurous spirit and his desire to embrace new challenges. Unmarried and unburdened by traditional employment, Michael chased his passions and continuously sought to make those around him understand how much they meant to him. It is rightly said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
Michael was an exceptional individual who was full of life and had immense potential. He constantly looked out for those around him and was a beloved uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doris Watters. His sisters, Mindy Watters and Malinda Santiago, are among the many family members and friends who will miss his loving presence.
In the words of poet Mary Oliver, "To live in this world, you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go." Michael did all three things with grace, laughter, and an unending capacity for love. We encourage you to share your memories and photos of Michael on his memorial page, celebrating a life that was as unique, loving, and thoughtful as the person who lived it.
