Melinda
Burns
Sep 2, 1963 — Oct 17, 2024
We lovingly remember the life of Melinda M. Burns, known affectionately as "Mindy" by her friends and family, who was born on September 2, 1963 in Indianapolis, IN, USA. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mindy was an adventurous soul with a quick wit and an ever-present sense of humor. She was known for the love she had for her family, her unique sense of humor, and her unwavering loyalty to those she held dear.
"Mindy" was a woman of many talents and was revered for her accomplishments. Having earned Bachelor's degrees in science and biology from the University of Indiana, she was employed at RWMC lab in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Her adventurous spirit led her to not only run for state legislature for the State of Wyoming but also to start a bait business called "Boarmasters," designing and selling bait globally. Yet, her adventurous spirit did not stop at her professional life. Mindy was known for her love for bird watching, boar hunting in Texas, and bear hunting in the Snowys. She had a penchant for watching old classics and raising and breeding chinchillas. It was a challenge for Mindy to find the biggest waterhole to drive her jeep through while out on an adventure or just drive down the street in the rain!
As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." Mindy truly embodied this in her life. She was a devoted wife to Roger Burns, a loving mother to Jeremi Young and Cindy Young, and a doting grandmother to her twelve grandchildren. Mindy was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Berry, and her parents, Betty and Clyde Berry.
Mindy will be remembered for her loving nature, funny anecdotes, and her adventurous, witty spirit. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though there will not be a formal service for Mindy, we invite you to share your memories of Mindy, and to upload photos to the memorial page in celebration of her life. It is through these stories and pictures that we can continue to remember and celebrate Mindy's unique and vibrant spirit.
