Obituary

Matthew Allen Hulbert, known affectionately as Matt, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 12, 1967, and departed this life on April 20, 2026. His life journey took him to many places, but he spent his final years in Littleton, Colorado. Matt was a light in this world—a beacon of humor, inspiration, love, and courage that radiated across the many lives he touched. His wit and humor were infectious, as was his love for Broncos football, road trips, and exploring the culinary delights showcased on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Matthew's professional career was marked by an impressive path in the finance sector, specifically accounting, from which he retired from Data Clean in 2025. Although well known for his financial savviness, it was his love for helping others that truly defined him. Matt could often be found volunteering at his local church, teaching the youth, assisting the elderly with landscaping, or sharing his financial expertise with those who were less fortunate. His accomplishments were wide and varied—from being captain of his high school football team, the Wyoming Cowboys, to earning the OHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award for excellence in academics and athletics. Matthew's talents extended beyond history and the stock market; he also expressed his creativity in the kitchen with his homemade, personalized spices and recipes for all occasions.

Matthew's life was a testament to his faith. Despite his Stage 4 cancer diagnosis, he remained positive, drawing strength from his faith and the knowledge that he would one day join his heavenly Father. He stayed dedicated to spending his remaining days in positivity and faith: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland" (Isaiah 43:18–19).

His courage during this time was an inspiration to many, as he offered comfort and guidance through his knowledge, faith, and resilience. Matt was a loving father to his children, Jake and Alexa; a beloved son to Judy and Mort Davis; and a cherished brother to Vincent Hulbert, Julia McMillan, Jason Rogers, Jonathan Rogers, Steven Davis and Will Davis. He was preceded in death by his father, Vince Rogers. Matthew's celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. MDT at the Dixon Chapel, 3900 Grace Boulevard, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126. We invite all who knew and loved Matthew to join us in celebrating his life and legacy. Please feel free to share your memories and photos of Matthew on his memorial page as we remember a man who was funny, inspiring, loving, and above all, a beacon of light in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Matthew's memory through giving are encouraged to donate to two causes close to his heart. Donations may be made to Cherry Hills Community Church in support of the Tender Warriors ministry, which serves the elderly and widows in our community (chcc.org/give). Additionally, contributions may be made to Step Denver, an organization dedicated to helping individuals recover from addiction and find community (stepdenver.org). Matthew believed deeply in lifting others up, and a gift to either of these organizations is a beautiful way to carry his spirit forward.
