John
Rogers
Dec 25, 1953 — Oct 7, 2023
In the early Christmas morning of 1953, Amarillo, Texas was graced with a new resident, a baby boy named John Carl Rogers, who would soon become widely known as Johnny. True to his birthdate, John brought joy and laughter to everyone he met with his funny anecdotes and contagious enthusiasm for life. On October 7, 2023, John embarked on his final adventure, leaving a legacy of humor, dedication, and humility behind.
John was an adventurer at heart, seeking thrill and excitement in the rugged mountains of Colorado. He made a name for himself as a humble freelancer in the construction business by day, and by night, he was an intrepid explorer, camping under the stars, hiking up challenging trails, and fishing in the calmest of lakes. His friends often joked that he was more at home in the wilderness than in his own house in Golden, Colorado. He had an insatiable love for beer, a good book, and the age-old pastime of panning for gold. Despite his love for the outdoors, nothing mattered more to John than his beloved daughter, Bonnie Rogers. His dedication to her was unwavering, a testament to his loving heart.
While his high school days in Colorado Springs may seem distant, they were far from forgotten. Whether it was scoring touchdowns or making people laugh, John's vibrant personality made him unforgettable. His high school football prowess earned him the nickname "Johnny the Jet" and a place in the Hall of Fame. His humble nature made him quick to dismiss his achievements, but his friends and family knew that these accolades were a testament to his dedication and sportsmanship.
John is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Bonnie, as well as his best friend and caretaker Julie Aho and his step daughter Angela Gordon. He also survived by his three siblings, Susan Miner with her husband Bob Miner, Amy Martel with her husband Billy Martel, and James Rogers with his wife Laura Rogers. He now joins his parents, Roland and Carol Rogers, on a new adventure. His life was a testament to living well and loving deeply, and he will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
We invite you to share your memories, anecdotes, and photos of John on his memorial page. Your contributions will help us keep the spirit of our beloved Johnny alive. Let's remember him not with sadness, but with the joy and laughter he brought into our lives.
