James
Hatfield
May 30, 1971 — Aug 30, 2024
James Martin Hatfield, known to all as Martin, was born on May 30, 1971, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. A talented auto body technician, he spent over 35 years restoring the beauty and functionality of vintage vehicles. He was the embodiment of the quote by Vincent Van Gogh, "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." Every car he touched was a testament to his exceptional craftsmanship, his humble dedication, and his unwavering patience.
Martin was a compassionate soul who found solace in the great outdoors. His zest for hiking was born from his innate love for nature and the serene landscapes of Colorado. Both Minturn and Gypsum had been his home before he settled in Elizabeth, where he spent the last eight years of his life. He found the same peace in the quiet trails of the mountains as he did in the heart of his workshop. As Albert Einstein once said, "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." Martin truly embodied this sentiment, finding wisdom in both the silence of nature and the roar of an engine.
He was a witty man with a knack for lightening the atmosphere with his humor. His laughter was infectious, often filling the room and bringing smiles to everyone around him. Martin is survived by his loving daughter, Kasandra Portice, his brothers and sisters Hershel, Amos, Nancy, Vickie and Janice Hatfield, and his significant other, Kimberly Wytulka. He is preceded in death by his father, A.J. Hatfield, and his mother, Eva Zavala.
Martin's life was a testament to his talent, humility, compassion, and wit. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. We invite you to share your memories of Martin and upload photos to the memorial page, preserving the legacy of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness and passion.
