Obituary

With profound respect and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Jada Riley Terpening after bravely battling illness on October 1, 2024, a woman who was truly one of a kind. Born on July 2, 2003, in Sioux Falls, SD, Jada spent her life living up to her name, which means 'wise.' She embraced the world with courage, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to serve those less fortunate.

Jada was not just a beacon of hope but also an embodiment of love and resilience. She dedicated her professional life to the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative, where she worked tirelessly to ensure that every individual had a resource to rely on. Her compassionate heart extended beyond her work, as she was a devoted and loving daughter and sister. She had a particular knack for working with younger children, her creativity and passion making her a favorite among them. As Albert Einstein once said, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile," and Jada, indeed, lived her life for others.

Jada's vibrant energy was not only limited to her work but also reflected in her personal life. She enjoyed cheer and gymnast, her dedication and courage evident in every flip and cheer. She is survived by her father, Wesley Terpening; her mother, Patty Terpening; her sisters, Danica (Andrew) Luehring and Tesa Terpening; her grandmother Myrna Weber; her aunts Cheryl (Roger) Kroh and Vicki (Mark) Becker; her uncles Roger (Cheryl) Kroh and Mark (Vicki) Becker; her brother-in-law, Andrew (Danica) Luehring; her birth-mother Shayla (Justin) Thoreson; her birth-father Shane Chinn; and her half-siblings Connor Mousseaux, Sophia Chinn, Annalise Chinn, Jameson Chinn, Carston Hansen and Gage Nutley-Stanton; her step-father Justin (Shayla) Thoreson; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Henry Weber, and great-grandmother, Annetta Pool.

Jada's light may have dimmed in the physical world, but her spirit, her courage, and her unwavering dedication to bettering the lives of others will forever remain a beacon of hope and inspiration. To keep her memory alive, we encourage you to leave your favorite memories of Jada and upload photos to her memorial page. As we remember Jada, let's celebrate her life and the remarkable impact she made on the world in her short yet meaningful time with us.
