Obituary

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Doreen Lynn Rodaway, affectionately known as Aunt Dor, on July 5, 2026. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on March 27, 1956, Doreen brought joy and warmth to the world with her radiant smile and infectious laughter. "Let your smile change the world, but don't let the world change your smile," an adage Doreen lived by fervently. Her smile was indeed a beacon of happiness that illuminated every room she entered, and her kind-hearted spirit made her a friend to all.

Doreen was the embodiment of compassion, love, and thoughtfulness. Her passion for life was infectious and was reflected in everything she did. She was a devoted wife to Kerry Rodaway and a loving mother to Kereen. She found great joy and fulfillment in her role as a florist, where she combined her love flowers and her remarkable creativity to craft beautiful arrangements that brought comfort and joy to others. Doreen loved her family, her grandchildren, her dogs, and had a gift for turning simple crafts into something extraordinary. She also loved the outdoors, spending time fishing and golfing, and ran the Bear Creek Sports Association alongside her husband. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she initiated several companies, including Maid for a Living, Dixie Air Filters, and Sympathy Heart.

Doreen's legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished by her husband, Kerry, and their child, Kereen, and daughter-in-law, Bre Styes. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Dixie Schwartz. If you ever hear the song, "Bushel and a Peck," know that Doreen "Aunt Dor" is there with you. We are reminded of the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." Indeed, Doreen's life was a journey filled with moments that made us smile, laugh, and feel loved. Her memory will forever be a reminder of the beauty that can be found in everyday life, and the joy that comes from living each day with compassion, love, and a touch of humor. Be a fighter like Doreen and if you're in the car and needing a song to sing, turn on Neon Moon. Kereen and Bre got to sing this with Doreen in the hospital where Doreen shared it was one of her favorite songs.

We invite you to leave memories and upload photos of our beloved Doreen on her memorial page. Let us come together to celebrate her remarkable life and the joy she brought to us all.
