Obituary

With a heart as big as his laugh and a spirit as vibrant as his wit, Donald "Don" Creeland Holt left a lasting impression on every life he touched. Born on November 27, 1952, in Murray, UT, Don brought joy and laughter to those around him with his funny and loving nature. Don, who passed away on July 1, 2024, will forever be remembered for his contagious laughter, his goofy personality, and his unwavering dedication to his family.

Don was a dedicated truck driver for Exel Inc. in Denver, CO, a job he loved and retired from after years of devoted service. He was also a proud veteran, serving as a tank operator and Sergeant in the United States Army. However, it was not just his work and service that defined him. Don was a man who lived life to the fullest. He loved camping, golfing, motorcycles, Corvettes and most importantly, spending time with his family. His love for animated cartoons and toys was not just for his enjoyment, but a way to connect with his grandchildren, whom he adored. As George Bernard Shaw once said, "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing," and Don was the embodiment of this quote.

Don is survived by his loving daughter Shelly Nebel (Eric), brother Gordon Holt (Julie), sister Rae Zager and his cherished grandchildren Alec Nebel, Alexis Matua, Jaden Isaacson, Haley Ruud, and his great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Holt and Dorothy Burrows, his brothers Eugene (Gloria) and Thomas (Sandy), and his brother in-law Clyd Zager. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and his legacy of love and laughter will live on in their hearts.

Don will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date for family and close friends. We invite you to leave your positive memories of Don and upload photos to the memorial page, so we can all remember the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. Don's light may have dimmed, but his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
